VLM 500 is a device comes with a new perspective for optically measuring quality assurance and automation processes in industry. This product measures lengths and velocities independantly from the material without any contact. Function :
VLM 500 functions optically and contact-free. Based on a CCD sensor it implements the spatial filter principle. Spatial filter is the generic term for a measuring principle for the optical determination of velocity and length of moving objects.
Measuring object which functions as an optical grid is projected on CCD sensor. For the illumination of measuring object an LED light source is provided by VLM500. A signal frequency appears on the movement of the object due to grid modulation and it is propotional to the speed. Velocity from measured signal frequency is calculated by this device. Precise measurement is simplified on periodic structures along with stochastic surfaces of metals, wood, rubber or paper.
